| “Bringing in Roger Mayer was one of the best things that could have happened for a young band in a London recording studio. Back in the 1970s, acoustic instruments always required proper tuning; at times, we didn’t have that.

In 1977, the highly awaited album “Exodus” by Bob Marley and the Wailers was unveiled. Throughout the years, there have been numerous queries regarding the extraordinary success of this iconic album, often dubbed the “album of the century.” Junior Marvin now reflects on the sequence of events that led to the creation of this legendary musical masterpiece.

Fortunately for us, we reached out to Roger Mayer, a brilliant and innovative inventor known for his renowned work on the Jimi Hendrix sound. Roger took the time to meticulously tune each instrument and even crafted special equipment to enhance our sound. Notably, he created a one-of-a-kind guitar for Bob, which gave him his own distinct sound for the Exodus project.

We dedicated three months to recording in a London studio, fully aware that the music of Exodus represented the state of mind of millions worldwide, which was simply “give me a statement.” The late-night sessions provided the perfect platform for everyone to express their creativity and bring something special to the project. Thinking back one time, the rhythm section would be laying tracks, Bob and I would be in the control room, and Bob would pull out his lyric book to rewrite and tweak. It made me realize even more that me and Bob had the same vision in many areas, and it truly was about the people.

When the engineers presented a mix of the final product, I expressed my thoughts and dissatisfaction with the mix. After a conversation with Bob and the rest of the band, Bob agreed and said, You mix the album and give us what we need. Taking on the challenge of the final mix was indeed daunting, but with the unwavering love and support of my brothers and sisters (the wailers), we were able to create lasting memories for the world to enjoy to this day.”

Junior Marvin stands out as a prominent figure in the music industry, celebrated for his exceptional talents as both a guitarist and producer. To this day, Marvin continues to captivate global audiences with his extraordinary tour performances. Coinciding with the launch of the 2024 One Love Movie, Marvin is set to release “Happy Family” on February 16, 2024, featuring a new rendition of the iconic “One Love.”
